Research
Summary:
Professor Parimi's research is focused on Negative Index and Plasmonic Media, Microwave and Wave Optics Engineering, Nanomedical Technologies and Strongly Correlated Systems.
Negative Index and Plasmonic Media: NIM can be regarded as a new class of materials which possess lefthanded electromagnetism, negative refractive index and a few other unusual characteristics not found in naturally available materials. Notable negative index media are resonant metamaterials, photonic crystals and periodic array of passive lumped circuit elements. The research work of Parimi and associates in this field has received wide recognition including a cover page profile in Applied Physics Letters (2005), citation in 'Science' top ten breakthroughs of the year (2003), and has been reported in New Scientist (2004), CERN Courier (2004), American Physical Society news (2003).
Microwave and Wave Optics Engineering: Parimi is currently investigating broadband slot, spiral, patch, portal-RFID and EBG-based antennas, band structure, group delay, delay-line filters, ultra sensitive phase shifters, negative refraction and imaging, photonic crystal and metamaterial applications from microwave to visible frequencies.
Nanomedical Technologies: Investigation of microwave and magnetic hyperthermia using gold and iron-gold core shell nanoparticles, for biosensing, imaging, and delivery applications.
Strongly Correlated Systems: Parimi has previously worked in the fundamental and applied aspects of HTS (vortex dynamics, nonlinear Josephson junctions, electronic transport and lattice instabilities) and CMR (magneto transport) employing verious characterization, synthesis and modeling techniques - dc to GHz investigation, microwave spectroscopy, high Q rf cavities, magnetization, PLD, rf sputtering, AFM, SEM, TEM, X-Ray diffractometry, melt textured growth, solid state and chemical routes for bulk synthesis.
